“State's environmental nonprofits sue over federal funding freeze”

“PROVIDENCE – A second lawsuit challenging freezes to billions of dollars in federal funding has landed in court in Rhode Island, this time arguing that they are imperiling critical environmental initiatives ranging from wildfire prevention to lead pipe remediation and composting.

The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council joined the Eastern Rhode Island Conservation District, the Green Infrastructure Center, the Childhood Lead Action Project, the National Council of Nonprofits and others in suing President Donald Trump's administration over pauses in federal funding that they argue are arbitrary and violate the Administrative Procedures Act.”
